During the 95th Academy Awards telecast, two of the film's stars, Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy, presented the movie before the trailer aired for audiences watching from home. The trailer offered a more in-depth look at Ariel's underwater world and her love interest, Prince Eric, played by Jonah Hauer-King. Additionally, more of Melissa McCarthy's Ursula was shown, featuring her iconic black octopus tentacles illuminated in purple hues. The brief preview even teased snippets of some of the classic musical numbers, including "Part of Your World" and "Kiss the Girl." "The Little Mermaid" is a remake of the beloved 1989 animated film that won two Academy Awards for "Under the Sea" and best original score.
